To replace a lost tooth with a bridge, adjoining teeth must be prepared for the crowns. The tooth and crowns are put together as a single piece, cemented to adjoining stumps. In some cases, a resin-based bridge called Maryland could be used. It does not require wearing adjoining teeth or extensive preparation. Your dentist will choose the proper technique for your case. Bridges can be supported by dental implants integrated on the bone.
