Orthopedic surgery repairs the knee cruciate ligament through arthroscopy; that is, the use of cameras and microscopic instruments in large and narrow tubes to alleviate knee problems. Small incisions are made. Usually, joint problems are a result of sport practice.

Arthroscopy is also used to look inside the knee while ligaments and tendons are being repaired from outside.
Knee surgery is performed through small punctures in the joints while you are asleep and not feeling pain (under general anesthesia).
The camera (arthroscopy) and instruments are placed in the knee articulation. This allows the surgeon to observe the ligaments, meniscus, bone (patella) and the lining of the joint (synovium). Damaged tissues are then removed.
Knee surgery is an ambulatory procedure.
