Chemical peeling uses different chemical substances on the skin to “peel” or exfoliate its external layers. If you want to improve the look of skin that has been damaged by the sun, minimize wrinkles, improve the look of scars, acne or chickenpox spots and decolorate or eliminate stains, chemical peeling is what you need.
Procedure –Chemical peeling gets rid of as many skin layers as the substance alows. The deeper it goes, the greater the risks. This procedure is generally performed in the face.
Chemical substances used are:
- Trichloroacetic acid
- Salicilic acid
- Golden Peeling Plus (Jessner plus resorcine)
- Kojic acid
- Retinoic acid among others
Chemical peeling is an ambulatory procedure.
Time – Time needed for the procedure will depend on the amount of skin treated and the substance used. It varies between 10 minutes and two hours.
